I was super fortunate and happy to contribute some 3D graphics to this year’s iteration of the VR Theatre at Siggraph in Los Angelas. We worked hard on it in our free time for half a year, and it was a resounding success with each day selling out. We created a networked 55 seat cinematic VR experience, where 50 plus guests would get to enjoy a 1 hour show of 5 VR short films that were curated.
I helped create a virtual staging lobby that was mapped to the seating arrangement and scale of the physical site. The user would put the headset on, and get transported to a virtual staging area for the 5 short films, which ran in UE4.
You can read more in depth about it here in an amazing article written but one of our lead developers and network specialist Carlos Diaz-Padron: https://medium.com/@_carlosdp_/immersion-at-scale-d2c36cb30c84
We had such a wonderful team, and I hope to return to work on future iterations of the VR Theatre for Siggraph!
